Cognixion: Cognixion is developing a sensory communication system that enables people to communicate using a brain-computer interface that translates brainwaves directly into communication. Their goal is to assist the 370 million people worldwide that are unable to speak or have trouble communicating. They said just being able to give them the ability to say “yes” or “no” can be life-changing. They have won the Roddenberry Prize, the Gold Edison Award for Social Impact, the Global Elevate Award and the Singularity University Global Grand Challenge for Education. They raised a $1m seed round in February 2018 from Tom Washing.

Silverleaf Analytics: Silverleaf Analytics has developed software for autonomous drone sense and avoid capabilities using relatively cheap hardware for the vision and processing systems. Their drones are able to fly through an unknown environment without any human interaction. Their software is industry leading detection resolution for small objects such as tree branches. The technology was taken out of research from CalTech/JPL and they’re currently raising a seed round.
